Tuesday was distribution day, and I caught up with Lt. Justin Caldwell, head of the Salvation Army in Sevier County, as he caught his breath. All these angels, whose names were hanging on Christmas trees at businesses throughout Sevier County, will get clothes, while 75 percent will get toys and shoes. For once the cry went out two weeks ago that 350 of the 800 kids in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program had yet to be chosen, wise — and generous — men and women came to provide for children who might not otherwise have had Christmas.
